Frequently Asked Questions
At
what stage of my pregnancy should I visit?
We
suggest
visiting between 24 – 30 weeks to get the cutest facial
images.
Women with twins should visit no later than 27 weeks, since twins have
less space.
How
many guests can I bring?
We
encourage
you to bring family and friends with you. We have a maximum
limit
of 7 guests. If you are considering an Easy Breezy Baby
Shower at
Belly View Ultrasound, please call for guest limit details.
What
kind of ultrasound machine do you use?
We
use the GE
Voluson 730 Expert, the top-of-the-line ultrasound machine.
This
machine is used by the world’s finest prenatal clinics and is as safe
as the ultrasound machine used at your doctor’s office.
Is
it safe?
Ultrasound
technology has been the subject of clinical studies over the past 30
years and has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or
baby.
Ultrasound sessions are no longer than 30 minutes.
What
is an elective prenatal ultrasound?
We
offer the
opportunity to capture your baby in live-motion 4D ultrasound to
provide a positive bond for parents and their unborn child.
We
also offer keepsakes, like videos set to music and pictures, and a
family friendly environment to share the special moment with those
closest to you. This in no way replaces the ultrasound at
your
doctor’s office.
Does
this replace the ultrasound at my doctor’s office?
ABSOLUTELY
NOT. Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound must
already
be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider and have already
undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound to confirm any pregnancy
related issues.
How
long does the ultrasound session take?
Depending
on
the package you choose, the session will last between 15 – 30 minutes,
however we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early for registration and
plan for 15 minutes after your session for the printing of pictures and
the formatting of the DVD/CD. Please ask all your guests to
be on
time.
Does
insurance cover this procedure?
At
this point,
insurance does not cover this because it is an elective procedure and
is not intended to be a replacement for your physician ordered
ultrasound. You will need to pay out of pocket for your
package
of choice.
What
can I do to improve the quality of my ultrasound?
Drink
plenty of
water. If you do not normally drink water daily you should
consider doing so beginning at least 5 days before your scheduled
appointment. Hydration can really improve the clarity of an
ultrasound. Have a good meal 30-60 minutes before your
appointment. Try and include fruit or fruit juice with your
meal
(unless otherwise ordered by your physician).
Will
my 3D ultrasound images always turn out the way I expect?
Usually, but sometimes if the baby is persistently looking away from
us, or if hands and feet are in the way it may be difficult to see the
baby's face. Issues that can make the images less than perfect are: the
amount of fluid around the area of interest, the location of the
placenta, age of the fetus, and fetal position. However, we do our very
best to get the best images of your baby! Each baby will scan
differently, and we can make no promises that the images will always
meet your expectations. We do promise, however to do everything we can
to get the very best images possible.
